Capri island is located South of Napoli, Italy and is considered one of the most romantic place ever. Its mythical blue cave attracts millions of people from around the world per year.
Main issue:

In a highly touristic area such as Capri and the gulf of Napoli where millions of visitors visit the island each year, a temporary ticket is essential for a successful contactless ticketing system. During the implementation of the automated fare collection system called "UNICOCAPRI," the three transport companies operating on the island wanted a fully contactless system. This required a contactless solution to the temporary cards requirement as well as a card for regular commuters. In addition, this project required full compatibility with a framework that is designed to provide interoperability for transit fares across the region. A similar system has already been launched in Naples also with ASK dual interface smart cards.
ASK solution:

In order to fully migrate to a contactless solution, GTML microprocessor cards are used to supply a ticketing medium for regular commuters and the island locals while a low cost C.ticket solution allows occasional passengers to transit and move around on the island for a limited period of time. Both of these ASK cards provide compatibility with the regional transit fare framework. A central system is installed at the SIPPIC funicular head office to safeguard the security of the data produced and processed by the other functional levels.

GTML allows regular commuters and residents to benefit from several season tickets and up to four different fare contracts on the same card, which is reloadable and changeable depending on individual preferences. The cards include post-printing personalization with the picture and a unique identification traveller code.

The C.ticket Unico Capri is used for tourists as a single trip ticket, hourly ticket or daily ticket. The C.ticket Unico Capri features ten different artworks that are collectable souvenirs of Capri.
