« Plug & play », multi-standard and multi-application

Paris, Cartes show, November 15, 2011: ASK, a worldwide leading actor in contactless technology, launches RDR518, a brand new desktop USB reader, based on CPL500 platform.
RDR518 includes the latest standards required by public transport, logical access control, identity and payment. From RCTIF V4 class B standard required by European transport operators to ISO10373 test-compliance which ensures universal interoperability, RDR518 support all ISO14443 contactless media, whether they be cards, tickets or mobile contactless media such as contactless-enabled cell phones.
4 SAM slots enable the various actors to separate security elements. A city or a region where the contactless network includes payment cards, transportation cards, multi-application city cards and contactless-enabled cell phone may then manage independently the security of each party. A high power RF interface gives RDR518 reader an optimized reliability for all contactless media. « Plug and play », it implements a USB CDC or CCID interface to be used with the standard drivers provided by most OS suppliers. Compact, easily integrated in various environments, with 4 leds and one buzzer, this new reader was designed to be user-friendly for system integrators and points of sales vendors.
